Born in 1978 in the Show Me State, Steve moved from Missouri to California as a platoon commander in the United States Marine Corps. After serving in the Marines he accepted a position in "moneyball" from the San Diego Chargers. He then moved on to the Cleveland Browns as the Head of Innovation for the club before becoming a consultant to multiple global teams.

Steve left the Browns following the implosion of 2014 and embarked upon a sports sabbatical over the next 18 months. During this time he worked with over 100 different sports clubs, military units, musicians, artists, executives, startups, and investors while on a search for amazing ideas and people. Along the way he founded a company, launched an agency, and become an expert in the intersection of technology, sport, and innovation. He is now the CEO for Gains Group, a sports innovation agency, and Partner at HickoryVC.
